The ASTRA Automatic Activation Device is based on a micro-controller circuit design. The ASTRA automatically cuts the parachute container locking loop if the unit’s preset activation altitude is reached, and for whatever reason, the rate of descent exceeds 115 feet per second (ASTRA Expert settings). Under normal conditions, the ASTRA will not fire because the jumper will have deployed a main chute, thus slowing their rate of descent to less than 105 feet per second before reaching the preset activation altitude. OPERATION: The ASTRA is small in size, extremely rugged, and simple to operate. The ON/OFF switch, when turned to ON, automatically calibrates the unit, checks continuity of the entire system, and continuously confirms the status of the batteries. DESCRIPTION: The ASTRA consists of three (3) major components: The Altitude Control Assembly, the Power Pack, and the Cutter Assembly. The Power Pack contains a Battery Pack and a back-up circuit which provides enough energy to fire the cutter until the battery is too weak. (Minimum of 150 hours of normal use) The Cutter Assembly contains a pyrotechnic cartridge which cuts a standard parachute locking loop when unsafe conditions are detected by the Altitude Control Assembly. See your container manufacturer for approved locking loops. NOTE: Do not use Kevlar loops with the Astra.

Astra Advantages Include:
- The unit is easily field tested by any approved rigger using a test chamber.
- This eliminates requirements for expensive and inconvenient factory overhaul.
- Simple and quick On/Off switch operation.
- Robust metal ACU case preventing Control Unit breakage.
- Metal battery case prevents broken battery boxes and the hazard of leaking acid into the reserve container.
- Rounded corners on battery pack prevent wear spots in reserve container.
- Heavy duty cable connections prevent accidental disconnect or breakage.
- Low volume Battery pack saves space in reserve container.
- Field replaceable modular components allow any rigger to do field changes.
- Program design allows recovery of firing altitude data for later analysis.
- Mil spec and E.C level of EMF protection avoids problems with EMF.

FXC 12000 PARACHUTE RIPCORD RELEASE

DESCRIPTION: This unit is completely mechanical in action, not dependent upon batteries, squibs or pyrotechnic devices. It’s both compact and rugged in order to withstand the service normally found in parachuting. It can be used on the main or reserve parachute. The function is to withdraw the ripcord pin (main or reserve) in the event the parachutist reaches a preset altitude with a rate of descent exceeding 65 feet per second. Under normal conditions the unit does not operate.
OPERATION: The altitude control may be set from 1,000 to 4,000 feet above ground level. Ground level may be anywhere from sea level to 10,000 feet elevation. While on the ground simply set the altitude indicator at the point you want your parachute to open in case of emergency. Knowledge of field elevation or barometric pressure is not required. Then when you are ready to jump, simply turn the safety lockout from OFF to JUMP position.
Unit comes with User Manual, (C) Bracket, (D) Screws, (G)Mounting Plate, (K-L) Large Hotel Terminal Pin or (K-S) Small Hole Terminal Pin
